Our conversation with Graham Dozier, the Managing Editor of Publications at the Virginia Historical Society and recent editor of “A Gunner in Lee’s Army: The Civil War Letters of Thomas Henry Carter” now out with UNC Press. In this interview, Dozier introduces us to Thomas Carter providing a synopsis of his entire life with a special emphasis placed on Carter’s military service as an artillerist in the Eastern Theater. Lastly, Dozier shares with us some of the efforts of the Virginia Historical Society to mark the sesquicentennial of the war.
