Our interview with Glenn Brasher, Instructor of History at the University of Alabama and author of The Peninsula Campaign & the Necessity of Emancipation: African Americans & the Fight for Freedom, now out with UNC Press. Dr. Brasher provides a fresh account of the Peninsula Campaign as part of the larger emancipation narrative, detailing the role of African Americans in this political fight well before the battle of Antietam.
