Our conversation with David Silkenat, Assistant Professor of History and Education at North Dakota State University and author of Moments of Despair: Suicide, Divorce & Debt in Civil War Era North Carolina published by University of North Carolina Press. In our interview, we discuss the work as well as Dr. Silkenat’s approach to teaching the Civil War in the midst of the sesquicentennial and his recommendations for recent Civil War publications.
