Our conversation with Harold Holzer, the Senior Vice President for Public Affairs at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City and the Roger Hertog Fellow at the New-York Historical Society. In this interview, Holzer discusses his new book, Lincoln and the Power of the Press: The War for Public Opinion now out with Simon & Schuster. He talks about Lincoln’s antebellum experience with the press and its influence on his wartime relationships with three specific editors: Horace Greeley, James Gordon Bennett, and Henry Raymond.
